Essay Question: Please tell us in your own words: what does the right to keep and bear arms mean to you?

As somebody who experienced bullying as a kid and both violent assault and property crimes as an adult, the right to keep and bear arms represents the greatest equalizing force there is for the powerless. It is for this reason it is one of the most important right, but also why it comes with great responsibility. We must protect this right with everything, while ensuring the next generation understands and appreciates the great power that comes with it.
Additional Comments: I look forward to listening to and working with GOV and others to protect Vermont's traditions of responsible gun ownership, as well as hunting, fishing, and trapping, which are increasingly under attack.
